5 Ways to Detox without Changing Your Food

If you listened to my latest podcast with New York City’s top alternative health practitioner, Dr. Alicia Armitstead, she shared the importance of lymphatic drainage for overall, long term health. And while many of us won’t be able to make it to her practice (they offer an amazing lymphatic drainage session!), we’re probably all still looking for effective ways to keep ourselves healthy and strong.

While I’m ALL about eating healthy, I think we often overlook other ways we can assist the natural detoxification process in our bodies. Plus, some of us are already on clean, whole foods based diets. So what are some effortless ways we can incorporate detox support?


1) Add a supplement

Simple add: trace minerals. Minerals help support the body’s natural detoxification process, plus your body needs minerals to stay healthy, strong, and energized. Many studies support the fact that the minerals we need are no longer in adequate supply in our foods and water. In addition, minerals help unblock detox pathways in our bodies, which leads to easier elimination of environmental toxins.

2) Get an air filter

Studies have found that the air inside our homes is up to five times more polluted than the air outside our homes. High quality air filters can reduce pollutants by up to 99%. Removing harmful particles from the air means they don’t get inside your lungs as you breathe.

3) Dry Brush

Have you ever been sick and had they lymph nodes near your throat swell? This is because they are burdened with the immune stressor, like the virus, bacteria, or fungus likely making you sick. Dry brushing is a quick and easy way to stimulate the lymphatic drainage process in your body, causing a natural cleanse. Plus it increases circulation - which feels great!

4) Get a massage

But not because massages detoxify the body! Because they help you relax. And being relaxed helps you sleep well. Getting good sleep IS detox supporting. 

5) Go to the sauna

Sweating is one of the body’s top detoxification methods! If you’re healthy and well enough to endure a sauna session, its one of the easiest ways out there to sweat! 

Toxins effect so many things - metabolic rate, aging process, energy levels, skin health, immune response, and more! Incorporating effortless detox methods is a great way to support your body’s natural detox abilities.
